The Via dei Marsi submitted to the prize of the Council of Europe Landscape 2012-2013. An initiative which aims to achieve sustainable development based on a balanced relationship between social needs, economic activity and the environment. The landscape are recognized important functions of general interest, cultural, ecological, environmental and social, and the fact of establishing a resource favorable to economic activity and whose protection, management and planning properly, can help create jobs.

The landscape also - always says the Council of Europe - contributes to the formation of local cultures and is a basic component of the cultural and natural heritage of Europe, thus contributing to the welfare and satisfaction of human beings and to the consolidation of ' European identity. It is everywhere an important element of the quality of life for people everywhere: in urban areas and in the countryside, in degraded areas, as in those of high quality, in areas that are considered exceptional, as in those of everyday life.
Wishing to respond to the public's wish to enjoy a quality landscape and play an active role in its transformation; It persuaded that the landscape is a key element of individual and social welfare, and that its protection, its management and planning entail rights and responsibilities for everyone; the Council of Europe has set up this new instrument devoted exclusively to the protection, management and planning of all landscapes in Europe.
The project La Via dei Marsi, the green plug marsicana, in which they are painted itineraries environmental, historical, cultural, religious and attractions - designed and developed by Sergio Rozzi - aims to promote the social and economic development of inland areas by enhancing marsicane of the region's potential; to favor a unitary structure to the various local actions; to achieve an environmental infrastructure able to connect the different relevances over the territory; promoting sustainable mobility; propose a new idea of ​​planning based on conservation and wise management of natural resources, historical and architectural and bring down the environmental discontinuities.
