The well-known sports environmentalist Marsicano Sergio Rozzi was invited, as a representative dell'ERCI Team Onlus, at the International Conference of the Council of Europe, as part of the European Landscape Convention. This important meeting will be held in Turkey (Cappadocia), on days 1 and 2 October 2014.
The reason is related to the convening of the prestigious project "Via dei Marsi", which had already been awarded "honorable mention" in the Landscape Award of the Council of Europe, 2012-2013 edition. During the event, Sergio Rozzi will have another opportunity to explain the project Marsicano an audience made up of the leading European experts in the field of landscape conservation and sustainable development of eco-compatible and durable.
The project La Via dei Marsi had been particularly appreciated by international circles, and the same Council of Europe (as reported in specific news on this site, that the "special mention" states inter alia:
The Via dei Marsi: La Spina Verde Marsicana (Route environmental, historical, cultural, religious and tourism), as assistance is to take the concept of the museum in its broadest meaning: The end of the operation falls within the valuation of resources of tourist interest, promoting accessibility and an approach to the cultural sites and the environment with alternative routes. Through the historic roads, it is planned sustainable environmental development based on environmental and cultural resources, proposing, therefore, to the visitor a different interpretation of the landscape.
The 15th Meeting of the Workshops for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention on "Landscape and Sustainable Economy: the value of the priceless natural and human landscape" will have five intensive workshops on the following topics: A trip in the landscapes of Turkey; Landscape values and economic evaluation; Urban landscapes and the economy; Rural landscapes and the economy; Implementation tools and procedures. The event, of great cultural importance, supported with great determination by the Turkish Government - which considers a milestone for the future eco-geo-politics of the country, in the dynamic development in the context of a broader European context - is aimed at government officials, representatives of local and regional authorities, universities, professionals, governmental and non-governmental public and private, operating in the fields of landscape, environment, heritage, culture and sustainable territorial development.
The sincere hope is that the international recognition now been followed, even in our country, greater political, institutional and media to these issues, which are the real "challenge of the future" for the inland areas hitherto marginalized, so as to arrive at concrete realization of the project. For Abruzzo would be the best chance in a century by the earthquake of Avezzano, to be open to new strategies of territorial development, able to revive the culture, history, nature and socio-economic development of the Marsica.
