The Scientific Committee of the Associations The Salviano and ERCI team Onlus met in the Council Chamber of City Hall Scurcola Marsicana on March 20 last. The meeting was also attended by Mayor Vincent Nuccetelli, the deputy Elettra Di Cristofano and the culture councilor Elio Falcone, the coordinator and committee spokesman Sergio Rozzi, experts Mario Pellegrini (Centro Verde di Rosello), Kevin Cianfaglione (University of Camerino), Franco Tassi (Parks Centro Internazionale di Roma), Cesare Iacovone (Speleological Centre of Chieti), and networked, Sergio Sgorbati, Roberto Mastrostefano, Antonello Dominici, Vincenzo Ronzitti, Franco Masotti.
First he tackled the issue of the Plant Biomass Powercrop SpA, back in those days in the limelight. Contributors have reiterated that in terms of energy and environmental biomass power plants represent a real failure, and so are the economic point of view, given that they are financed with public money.
The main concern is the danger of transformation of agricultural crops currently intended for human consumption (food) and animal husbandry (feed) in crops for the production of energy (fuel). This would produce a radical upheaval of the economy of the agricultural and livestock, threatening to transform the agro-energy, from business income support, active para-substitute and destructive industrial agriculture marsicana.
As an alternative to the huge and unjustified plant biomass, the Committee has proposed a park Agro-Ecological enhancement and promotion of the activities and traditional food products. This park, located in the Plans Palentini, would leverage the natural vocation of this area to crops biological.
The project has already received the first approval, in particular the Mayor of Scurcola Marsicana, Vincenzo Nuccetelli, and by the councilors present. The Municipality stands, as well as leader of the initiative being launched, on its territory, a process of incorporation of Agro-Ecological Park City. With this act, at the forefront of the Marsi, the City of Scurcola Marsicana arises as an important reference, national and international, for organic farming and environmental protection, with a positive impact in terms of ecotourism. The project, in fact, provides for the creation of paths and walking and cycling paths, the discovery and exploitation of historic structures and traditions, expansion of facilities, environmental education campaigns and much more.
